Asheville, NC-based roots artists Anya Hinkle returns to the Wake Forest Listening Room for an intimate exploration of acoustic music rooted in the sounds of Appalachia and seasoned by travels across the globe. After tours in Japan, India, Nepal, Denmark, Sweden, Hawaii, Colorado and California in 2023-2024, Anya and her bandmates present a surprisingly dynamic range of styles and influences in their original compositions.
With vivid storytelling and arresting honesty Anya Hinkle’s music is steeped in the tones of folk and bluegrass and seasoned by travels the world over. Hinkle won the 2019 MerleFest Chris Austin Songwriting Competition and was the 2023 USA Songwriting Contest; she had a No.1 song and No. 2 album on Folk Radio charts in 2018. She has played festival stages across the world including MerleFest, Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, Bristol Rhythm Roots, La Roche Bluegrass Festival.
